plenty of opinions.
You will not find a staged portrait of a smiling founder holding a latte on this page. Annie prefers to stay behind the counter, or more accurately, behind a stack of books tall enough to hide behind.

why this shop exists

Somewhere between the third big box return line and the fortieth algorithm recommended book that had nothing in common with the last one, the idea took hold: books deserve better matchmaking than "people who bought X also bought Y."

So, a shop. Small on purpose. Used books that already have a little life in them, new books that earned a place on the shelf instead of just a marketing budget. No trying to be everything to everyone.

no. 03
who's behind the counter

A person who alphabetizes under duress, argues (lovingly) about whether a book counts as beach reading, and has strong, unsolicited opinions about which edition you should actually buy.

Annie built this shop the way you would curate a very specific dinner party guest list. Everyone here has to be interesting, and nobody is allowed to be boring just because they are popular.

read, not just shelved
If it is in the shop, someone here has actually read it, or come close enough to vouch for it without lying to your face.
small on purpose
Fewer titles, better odds. Every shelf gets edited the way a good manuscript does: ruthlessly.
used and new, together
A worn paperback and a fresh hardcover can absolutely sit next to each other. We are not precious about it.
